The Journey - July 16th, 2023

A newsletter around learnings, experiences, creations and discoveries.

Video I’ve produced: the ultimate Dark Techno Set in Arràbida, Portugal for Club Nature 🎶

As I mentioned last time, I started a YouTube channel called Club Nature.

What we do: bring epic DJs and live performers to stunning locations. Contrary to Cercle, we actually want people who perform and interact with the camera - people with high energy. Stay tuned for more videos coming soon and our first guest performers!

You can also listen to the set on SoundCloud.

Question I ask myself these days when making decisions:

“Is this simplifying my life long-term?”

Turns out that many hard choices are the ones that are easiests in the long-run.

Quote I’m pondering on:

"A person triggers us in direct proportion to how important s/he has become to us in reality or in our minds."

From the book Triggers by David Richo. Another quote from the book that I resonate with: "Being triggered is not dysfunctional, though our reaction to a trigger might be."

One thing I learned is that sometimes, you don’t realize your own trigger. This is when it becomes dangerous and where psychotherapy (or good friends) can help.

I couldn’t send this to more people. Stutz is an American psychologist and this movie captures some of his most fundamental frameworks, including the notions of

Part X”: the part within you that always sees the negative, that judges, that makes things impossible.

-

The Perfect Snapshot”: in order to avoid the pains of reality, Part X creates perfect snapshots of your desired life. You think that “when I finally reach that perfect job or relationship, I’ll be happy” until you reach it and nothing changes. These ideals take you away from facing reality and going through the pain now.

-

Life Force”: you cannot become passionate about anything if you’re not passionate about your life force. And this consists of taking care first of your body (eat, sleep, exercise), then your external relationships (friends, family) and only then yourself. If you’re depressed and want to find your purpose for being here but don’t take care of your life force, you’ll never get out of it.

-

Note: Stutz can be criticized for being too emotionally close to his patients, which is a valid point. At the same time, it doesn’t take away the value that this movie can provide you. Enjoy!

Ever heard of Inner Family Systemstherapy? Here is how I practice it:

Click on the Twitter Thread to read it! Inner Family Systems works like wonder. And it’s one of the most healthy way to talk to yourself.

Where I’ve been traveling to:

Words that marked me:

“The only limitations to your reality are your intentions. You need to trust that you can fulfill all your intentions at the same time - that you have abundance of choice and possibility.” - my friend Fred

Let me explain:

We all have desires, visions, dreams, goals, missions. Let’s call of of them “intentions”.

Now, it often happens that we have conflicting intentions. For example: “I want to be healthy and wake up at 6am every day.” while also “I love techno parties and want to dance really hard”.

Many people end of sacrificing one intention for the other. Truth is: it’s highly possible that you can fulfill both intentions at the same time. For example, going to daytime techno parties. Or waking up Sunday at 6am to go to the afterparty for sunrise!

Do not limit yourself. Be clear on your intentions. Follow them rigurously.

And here is the song of the week:

It’s “music that one can touch”, as my newest running and music friend uses to say!
